  1. I had a similar situation in an audition
After I was done with my monologue people started
Clapping and the director was laughing.
He asked the sane questions about availabity
And I never heard back from them.

    1. Funny how that can happen. The interesting thing is that I truly believe
that people mean what they say, but as you know, there are so many factors in
      getting booked and not booked.

  2. That’s very interesting, and thank you for sharing. What are the types of things they say if they really do want you for the part?

    1. Hi Katherine,

I generally find that the less they say the better. If they simply say
“Thank you” or even nothing is always a good sign. I am not saying that
if someone compliments you that means you won’t ever book the job,
but don’t believe everything you hear after your read.

  3. That is so true Aaron. You definitely know what you are talking about. I have noticed that. I have seen people get so excited after an audition, they come out after auditioning &; say “They loved me, they told me I was the best one they have seen all day, etc, etc..” but I believe it’s not that they are lying, they probably were really good, it’s just they didn’t fit for THAT particular job. Sometimes it’s just that they wanted a blonde, or they needed a Caucasian not Hispanic, whatever it may be & you just do not fit that look. It sometimes has nothing to do with talent. Hope & I love your blogs, videos & emails…Very Helpful. Thanks for everything Aaron.

  4. Very interesting that you come out an say this. I’m glad to hear it from you!! I’ve been experiencing this and came to the conclusion its probably how it works… anyway decided not to get my hopes up for anything. 🙂 but try to improve myself.

  5. I have been rejected so many times after hearing, “Great job!”, “Nice read.”, “That was great!” or “Where are you originally from?”, that I don’t expect to book anything now. But I don’t take it personally either. I’m just going to keep auditioning until I hit my 100th audition. Hopefully, I’ll get lucky then.
