ADR work is a division of VO (voice over) work. All actors need to know about ADR work

Had a Great Experience Doing ADR Work

I had worked on a network TV show. A short time after the shoot, I was contacted by production to come back to New York and re-do my lines.

I thought doing ADR work meant that they hated my read.

I Thought I Messed Up My Lines When Asked to Do ADR Work

When I got an E-mail stating that I was needed to do ADR work gave me a bad feeling. My initial thoughts were that they didn’t like the read and needed me to record them differently.

It’s easy to feel paranoid in the industry (at least I was) until I learned a lot more about how the industry works.

The Extras in the Scene Caused Me to Do ADR Work

As it turned out, the extra’s in the scene were talking while I was saying my lines. The sound person couldn’t get a clean track of my lines. So, I had to do the lines again. I did them exactly how I originally read my lines. This voice over work is called ADR.
