Best Way to Handle Audition Notes

How to Handle Audition Notes

It’s not unusual for writers to place notes in the sides for actors to use during auditions. They will state the type of reaction they feel is appropriate for the character.

The notes could state the character should scream, cry or is shocked at specific spots in the audition.

Actors should always read the notes. However, I don’t believe actors have to follow
the notes. Writers are writers. Actors are actors. Actors are the ones who should decide what our character needs to do throughout the audition.
